World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)

The volunteer at the project will rotate between WWF-Armenia and its partner organizations, including Arpa Protected Area in the Vayots Dzor region and the Khosrov Forest State Reserve. During the initial 1-2 months, the volunteer will be based at the WWF-Armenia office, where they will become familiar with WWF-Armenia's projects, receive training in fieldwork, and learn how to use relevant equipment and software. Following this period, the volunteer will assist staff at each partner organization, supporting daily tasks related to wildlife data coordination and analysis.

About The Project

Background

WWF began its activities in Armenia in 2002, and by November 2006, WWF-Armenia was officially established as a branch of WWF International, becoming part of the WWF Caucasus Program Office. The organization focuses on several key priorities, including the development and strengthening of protected areas in Armenia, the conservation of threatened species, and the restoration of ecosystems. It also works on climate change mitigation and adaptation, promotes alternative livelihoods for local communities to support sustainable natural resource use, and advocates for environmental awareness and education. WWF-Armenia is the largest and most recognized conservation organization in the country.

Volunteer Tasks

· Assisting with biodiversity monitoring in collaboration with caretakers.
